BOLD Redefined.

We are all called to be BOLD.

What is bold?

BOLD is:

strong and courageous, stepping out of our comfort zones in faith, and taking action in areas of life that seem unknown, uncomfortable, or riskyBoldness comes from the relationship we have with Christ, which results in strength, purpose, and courage. Being bold is following God’s path, living out our faith in love, and standing up for it - no matter what hardships we face. Bold is truth in love. Bold is not boastful. We can’t grow without being bold.

Boldness without Christ is prideful; Boldness through Christ is Faithful.

BOLD are the words and actions of Jesus Christ - through His life, death, and resurrection.

BOLD CALLING

The calling is the same today, as it was nearly 2,000 years ago.

Jesus calls all believers to His final and great command: “You will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." (Acts 1:8)

“God has given us the task of reconciling people to him.” (2 Corinthians 5:18)

“Therefore, since we have such hope, we are very BOLD.” (2 Corinthians 3:12)

“So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” (2 Corinthians 5:20)

BOLD FUEL

BEING bold starts with a daily relationship with Jesus Christ

Boldness and courage does not come from ourselves. We need to fuel our bold sides with Jesus. The power of the Holy Spirit, time with Jesus in His word & prayer give us strength, guidance, and wisdom.

This doesn't mean we won't feel afraid or scared at times, but we move forward on God's never changing Word and Power. God walks with us wherever we go.

“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.” (Acts 4:13)

“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self control.” (2 Timothy 1:7)

“And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word." (Acts 4:29)

BOLD ACTION

Everyone has a bold next step in their walk with Christ

It is not enough to be hearers of God's Word, we are called to be doers of God's Word - to put our faith into action. We can't grow our faith, spread the love of Christ, and share the Gospel with others if we stay in one place and isolate ourselves in our comfort zones. It is one bold step at a time.

“We are confident of all of this because of our great trust in God through Christ.  It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own.  Our qualification comes from God” (2 Corinthians 3:4-5)

“We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure.  This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves” (2 Corinthians 4:7)

“The wicked run away when no one is chasing them, but the godly are as bold as lions.” (Proverbs 28:1)

"And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness." (Acts 4:31)

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)

What's your bold next step?

We can't know Jesus and experience transformation, only to keep it to ourselves; nor should we let confusion, the face of conflict, fear, others opinions, or persecution halt the mission.

The best first step we can take is prayer. Prayer changes everything. From there, maybe it is devoting 10 min. to God every morning in the Bible and prayer, inviting that person to Church again, joining or leading a Bible Study, volunteering to help those in need, using your unique gifts to serve others, forgiving someone who hurt you, sharing your story with someone to provide healing & share the Gospel, going on a mission trip, to name a few.

Most importantly, seek God for His leading and in His timing, He will reveal a next step for you. God never leaves us without a next step - He will light up one step at a time. And remember, He only created one unique version of you for a reason. Don't compare what God is doing in and through you to anyone else. Confidently and boldly listen and act on His will for your life. Let Him be your guide. "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;  your works are wonderful,  I know that full well." (Psalm 139:14)
